Industry Awards

The Society sponsors three annual awards programs to recognize the best in decorated ceramic and glass ware. The awards are international in scope.

Discovery Awards honor excellence in design and technique in a variety of categories including dinnerware, tumblers, containers, furniture, tile, automotive glass and collectibles. The competition, begun in 1978, is open to decorators, producers and suppliers in all categories of glass and ceramic decorating. A panel of industry experts is assembled to judge the entries.

The Bert Vandenoever Award is the highest honor among Discovery Award entrants and is given to the single entry judged best of show by SGCDpro seminar attendees.

The Frank S. Child Award honors individual achievement in the industry. Named for the Society's first executive secretary and founding member (now executive secretary emeritus), the award recognizes extraordinary contribution to the decorating industry.

In short, SGCDpro members gain access to the information and resources they need to produce high quality products that comply with current governmental standards relating to decorated glass and ceramic products. SGCDpro is here to assure the future success of the glass and ceramic decorating industry.
